How to improve egg quality? - part 1.
A study by the Centro de Multiplicación Avícola de Corrientes (Argentina) concludes that feeding programs for breeding hens result in colored eggshells with increased resistance.
Feeding programs
A trial conducted at experimental stations of the National Institute of Agriculture and Livestock (INTA) showed that the programs used for feeding are positively correlated with shell color and egg quality.
To carry out this experiment, 300 breeding hens were divided into two groups: experimental and control, each with different diets. In the end, the hens managed to lay a total of 1,742 eggs with a slightly similar color distribution in both groups.
Within the total number of eggs collected, there was a higher percentage of colored eggs, which favorably have a higher fertility and hatchability incubation process, as opposed to white eggs, whose percentage is quite low.
From this study, it can be concluded that a more nutritious diet during the rearing stage improves hatching egg quality.
Finally, it is essential to consider pre-planning of egg production on the following topics concept of quality, This will allow the producer to have a higher consumption of eggs in the population and more favorable financial returns.
